After the Sermon

Through the church windows, alders ripple.
Cottonwoods catch the trembling light.
Like a lake three sheets to the wind
goes the high leaf scattering bright.

There is no susurrus but a grand piano
doing sweet justice
to an old Genevan tune.

I plead not guilty. Else I would have titled it “During the Sermon,” haha.

I love the trees that you can see in Aldergrove church. It’s always so beautiful. Susurrus is a great word. I just looked it up.
